Michael Aamoth founded Midwest Musical Imports in Minneapolis, Minnesota and continues as its president. The company has been serving musicians all around the world for more than thirty years with their musical expertise, and their staff of highly skilled repair technicians. He says that the business is one of musicians serving musicians, and that he is committed to making it an outstanding resource for musicians everywhere. Sponsoring and attending many musical events is a very important part of Midwest Musical Imports mission as well as giving scholarships to young musicians around the US.
Fifty Year Teaching & Performing Career
Michael Aamoth studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the University of Minnesota (Education Degree). He has also studied with renowned teachers
Ronald Roseman, Rhadames Angelucci, Richard Killmer, Henry Schumann, Marion Gibson, and Clifford Aamoth.
Michael taught oboe performance at the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, Bethel University, MacPhail Center for Music, St. Scholastica, and to private students for 45 years.
His students have gone onto teach at Juilliard, Rutgers, the University of Washington, and MacPhail, and to perform with the Minnesota Orchestra, Met Opera Orchestra, Florida Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and Louisville Orchestra.
In Michael’s fifty year playing career, he has performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, South Dakota Symphony, Duluth Symphony, Bach Choral Society, and at the Aspen Music Festival.
